The parchment before them on the ship’s rail was scattered with a myriad of dots, as if someone had scattered cracked black pepper. Thorongil stared …how could one remember all those names?
As if in answer, his companion said, “Don’t worry, we only name the greatest – see here, …here… trace the shape of a warrior… and there.”
The Dunadan nodded, “The ones marked are the brightest, but the others… you can see those stars too?”
The hooded elf nodded, “Of course. Especially here, this far north the icy night-sky is clear as spring-water.”
He began to sing softly… Elbereth’s Hymn.
