Character: Tauriel and Young Bilbo
Source: Pre-Ring War
Disclaimer: Tolkien created the magic, Kortirion just enjoys the sparkle of the fairy-dust.
The tall figure loomed over him. Young Bilbo was a hairsbreadth from turning tail and fleeing for his life, but... it laughed!
A low, reassuring chuckle that in other circumstances could have been humiliating, but here… well, stands to reason… any blood-curdling monster is not going to chuckle before they skewer you and do unspeakable… things!
That thought flashed through his mind, immediately followed by ‘but what if fell creatures DO laugh before they kill you?’
Then another figure suddenly appeared from behind a tree and Bilbo did take to his heels… straight into the unmoving legs of a third.
She couldn’t help but laugh, the little perian was round-eyed as a hound pup caught chewing a boot… and then such a mix of puzzlement, horror and indecision across his face – my, his eyebrows truly have a life of their own, they’re but a hairsbreadth from fleeing his face altogether!
At which point, he made up his mind - ran straight into Lindir’s legs and fell backwards in a heap.
Tauriel swiftly knelt beside him, picking him up by the shoulders. She inclined her head in formal greeting,
“Mae govannen, Tauriel i eneth nin.”
“Y-y-y-you’re an Elf!” He finally stuttered.
