Elrond stood on the dais, arrayed in traveling robes, but feeling unprepared to leave.
“The time has come for strong leadership,” he told the new-crowned king in a low voice. “Do not let them shame you, or dismiss you as unworthy of your birthright because you were raised among the Elves. Sauron’s defeat is a mighty victory, but you must remain vigilant.”
The young king bowed his head, a telltale shine in his eyes. “I will not forget your words, Lord Elrond. Nor your long kindness. Namárië.”
“Namárië.” Elrond bowed. “You may always call on Imladris for aid, King Valandil.”
