Characters: A family of Rohan after the Ring War

“There will be ale and mead for all who want to come to Edoras, to Aldburg or the Hornburg,” said the visiting rider. “Éomer King has invited all to celebrate the anniversary of our victory over Sauron, and to drink to the memory of those who did not return.”
Grandmother felt no urge to attend although she appreciated Éomer King’s plan. He was, after all, still young; and in winning battles he had secured a better future for all young Rohirrim, like Osred and Gytha, Édric and Liuba.
But she could not, yet, drink a toast for her own losses.
