Lord Celepharn looked at his spirited wife, eyebrow raised, and folded his arms. “A sheep.” Her eyelashes fluttered, and she gave him an innocent smile.
“A pregnant sheep, Celepharn. So there would be lambs that I could cuddle and pet.” Her turquoise eyes charmed him, and he felt his resolve crumbling.
“I…see.” He didn’t see, not really. Celepharn didn’t see at all what the use of buying a pregnant sheep was. “It will have to live down in the fold. We are not keeping it in the house.”
“She,” Neldiel sniffed, “is named Gwaloth.” Blossom. Well, it was not so bad a name. Still, a sheep…Celepharn sighed and let her keep it. Her. The sheep.
As Gwaloth’s progeny increased, and the shearing commenced, the balls of wool added to the household stores began multiplying. Celepharn resigned himself to his wife’s oddities, and her sheep. They were rather cuddly, after all…
A/N: Celepharn and Neldiel are the parents of Oropher, the father of Thranduil. This takes place after Celepharn and Neldiel’s marriage, but before they have had any children. It is an extremely shortened version of a longer tale Emma and I wrote together. I hope I've done this right, it's my first time posting though I've belonged to the group for a while.
