A Day to Play

Gondolin was experiencing an unseasonable cold snap. A knock at the door pulled her from the warm covers of her bed. Grabbing a cloak, she wrapped it around her and began walking down the stairs to the workshop.

Voices murmured and boots scuffed the cobbles in the courtyard outside. "Shhhh, not too loud. Bri, you'll speak for us?"

Opening the door, she saw several elven children, each holding a pair of ice skates. "Mistress Helyanwë, the ponds are frozen. Will you sharpen these?"

She smiled. "Come inside and I'll set up the grinding wheel. It's a good day to play."
