Ripples glimmered, shining brightly where stray sunbeams caught them, dully reflective in the shadows; the tiny cascade gathered into a torrent that flowed down and around the massive stone pillars – a stream, no a river, of golden coins and ingots. The flow held cups, plates, bride-pieces, reliquaries… Smaug robbed indiscriminately… his lust was for evermore soft, malleable, beautiful gold!
The small burglar flitted near-silently from nook to cranny, around pillar and shadow, only stooping when one particularly shiny morsel caught his eye…
