*Tharhîwon is a regular character in some of my stories - an orphaned elfling he was adopted by Frodo in The West when it became clear that he had no living relatives there. He has featured here in drabbles before - specifically those written for the Mulled Wine Challenges last year.
Master Elrond’s brewers made fine beer, for even Elven smiths found it quenched the thirst better than wine. Tharhîwon took a flagon, with the pie, to Gimli’s forge.
“Master…” he said, for here he was Gimli’s apprentice.
“Ah, lad! Finished thinking then?”
Tharhîwon smiled. “For now. My place is in your forge as long as you are in it. But when you fly the circles of the world I will follow Legolas inland for I am, at heart, a wood elf.”
“As well then,” said Gimli, “That we can rebuild this forge under trees if we both go with him!”
