Aids to navigation.
Men called it ‘The Glittering Caves’; it was a fair description. But a fair description only in the same way that Gimli might describe the Rohirrim’s prized possessions as ‘horses’, or each meal lovingly crafted by hobbits as ‘food’.
For each seam of metal or minerals had a name and, by looking at how they met or moved apart from one another, a dwarf could travel through through Aglaronde in much the same way that an elf navigated by the stars.
Surely if Varda had tossed her lights above for the first-born, Mahal had placed his here for his children.
