Born in Gondor, by Himring

Title: Born in Gondor
Author:  Himring
Characters: The eldest daughter of Thengel of Rohan and Morwen of Lossarnach
Rating: PG
Warnings: mild angst
Book/Source: LotR
Disclaimer: Tolkien supplied the genealogical information and the geography, I imagined the woman.

In Rohan, she is the one who speaks the language with a Gondorian accent, who thinks she is too good for them.

In Gondor, she is the one with the barbaric name, takes liberties she should not.

In Rohan, she dreams of watching the husbandmen of Arnach at their work, of wandering in the woods.

In Gondor, she dreams of riding far over green grass.

It is a sad thing to be torn between two worlds; yet there are reasons to be cheerful. She has friends: Forlong in Lossarnach, Elfhild in Edoras. Those are memories of joy, beside the hurt.

A/N: Adapted from a passage in my ficlet "In Between". The passage was inspired by the Tolkien Weekly dreams prompt, but the earlier version was hardly cheerful. I've given it a slightly more upbeat ending here. There is no canonical name for Theoden's elder sister, as far as I know. I call her Erkenhild.
