Muse - History challenge: A Dwarves View of History

Title: A Dwarves View of History
Author: Kortirion
Character: Gimli
Source: Appendices LotR
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Tolkien = all his. Kortirion extrapolates – sometimes beyond reason, but not this time.

For Elves, history is living memory; Rohirrim sing paeans to past glories. Gondorians store history in dusty scrolls. Not so Dwarves – history lives around them. The bones of Arda care naught for passing dynasties of Men, not even for the Eldar do they change, except in greatest need, and final cataclysm.

Gimli directed their history be carved into the Glittering Caves. Here, round-cheeked Hobbits peer from leaf-carved stones; there, a noble profile of Man. Barely seen is the sinuous curve of an elven bow, lithe limbs disappearing behind carved tree-trunks, while inlaid gold makes shining hair dance in the stones.
