"Out of doubt, out of dark, to the day's rising
he rode singing in the sun, sword unsheathing,
Hope he rekindled, and in hope ended;
over death, over dread, over doom lifted
out of loss, out of life, unto long glory."
~The Return of the King: Many Partings
Thunder filled the air – the sonorous voices of the Riders; the sound of Helm’s Horn reverberating among the mountains, the heavy beat of funeral drums. Slowly they rode, singing of glorious battle, the hooves’ thunder, the spear’s flash, the fell battle-light in the eyes of the warriors, the re-kindled wrath of Theoden King.
They sang of the storm they made; the charge that shook the very earth, spears that struck like lightening, arrows that fell as rain upon their enemies.
And as they sang, tears trailed the cheeks of proud men... for they laid a king to his long rest.
