Autumn challenge - The Leaving

Title: The Leaving
Author: Kortirion
Rating: G
Characters: Elves
Source: Probably the Appendices
Disclaimer: Tolkien’s Middle-earth, which we all regret the passing of – except that it lives on in our hearts... [Did I just write that? *hawk*]
Notes: Not quite a drabble, but it is 100 words

Crescented Ithil lights our well loved paths,
Under faded leaves that drift quietly down.
Night winds billow gently through our banners
As we tread silent over moss and stone.

We are leaving.

Our favourite hills and dales are quiet now,
Our best loved rivers are alone once more.
The Last House stands empty, still and silent.
Autumn stains our woodlands ochre and gold.

We are leaving.

Our grey ships slip away from misty shores,
Glittering wavelets slapping in their wake.
White sea-mews glide, escorting us a while,
Then wheel back to shore, the last to see us.

We are gone.
