Remembering Ere The End

Title:  Remembering Ere The End
Author: Jay of Lasgalen
Characters:  Denethor, Faramir
Book:  LOTR (Book-verse)
Disclaimer:  Tolkien's, not mine.
Author Notes:  For the 'Change Of Heart' challenge.

“I wish you had died instead.” Such harsh words. Words which I did not quite say – but the thought was clear in my mind; in my face.  Faramir had seen it.
Now Faramir is brought to me, barely alive, sacrificing his life to vainly prove his worth.
It needed no proving – I have long known the worth of both my sons, but now ’tis too late. I can but grant him this last mercy, and let death take us together. But even in that I am thwarted by Mithrandir.
“Do not take my son from me! He calls to me.”
