Author's Note: This actually goes together to make a set of three with the my last two drabbles. Each one finds the rejected party from the previous drabble discovering or realising a new love.
Her arm ached; a dull sort of pain to match her weary heart. His touch was gentle, but nought more than that of rider upon broken steed. His heart lay still northward. What though of the fallen soldier? He was much like a lord she remembered from her youth, who came often to Meduseld on matters politic. The same nobility, yet less bold and more tender. They talked now often, in hushed tones, of golden days past and dark days to come; and in the comfort of his quiet soul, her wounds were healed, both of body and of heart.
