The End of the Quest

In the end, his quest was meaningless: it was his heart, not his head, that ruled.

With the cold hand of logic, it was a perfect match: heiress of Rohan, nobility of Gondor. But logic had played no part – gazing at her across a garden, his heart was captured.

With the heat of passion, it was a perfect match: she was young, lovely, nubile; he was young, strong, his body crying out for a mate.

In the end, he understood nothing; yet all became clear when she took his hand, and they stood together watching the world end, and begin.
