He collapsed to the ground, lay on his back and looked into the grace of the sky. He closed his eyes and forsook himself. He offered his coarse gratitude to the sand. He gave his breath to the wind and smoothed his legs over the white foam whose stroking aroused his soul. He looked outwards at the vastness of the world’s waters, the enduring bounty of the sea, and felt himself drawn out of his slender body to the struggling waves even as he felt himself pushed inward against the fullness of his ardor.
Thus did Eomer meet the Sea.
