"Rock" Challenge

This is for fawsley, who misread something about Aragorn's upbringing that ribby wrote in the comments here. A semi-loose interpretation of the challenge.

Title: A Venerable Art
Author: edoraslass
Characters: Aragorn & his step-father
Warning: Could not be more AU
Disclaimer: Nope, not mine

Aragorn listened intently; his step-father had finally deemed him old enough, and he was eager to begin learning the ancient tradition.

"Lookit this one here," the King drawled, "ain't too yella, ain't too green, none o them brown spots – just about perfect."

Aragorn examined the banana seriously.

"Creamy or crunchy don't matter," the King went on, "but you gotta have sturdy bread – don't want your sammich fallin' apart while it's fryin." He fixed Aragorn with a stern eye, handed him a knife. "Let's see what you got, son."

Taking a deep breath, Aragorn began to make his very first peanut-butter-and-banana sandwich.
