Title: There Is Always Hope
Word Count: 100
Summary: Faramir tries to bring hope to those who have none. For the Coins challenge.
Disclaimer: Not mine! I am merely playing around in JRR Tolkien's marvelous sandbox.
They might have won, but all Faramir can see around him is suffering as the women and children return to a City that has given them naught but dead husbands, blackened dreams, and broken lives.
As Faramir walks the streets, he passes many women pleading for alms.
He always stops, and this time, as Faramir places a generous amount of coins in the woman’s lap, he kneels so she can see the honesty in his gaze. “This darkness will not endure. I promise you.”
And when the woman smiles, it is not one of joy or sadness, but of hope.
