Different Decisions challenge - 'Golden Chains': Kortirion

Title: Golden Chains
Author: Kortirion
Character: Aragorn, Arathorn, Gilraen, and the Lord of Arda
Rating: G
Source: AU Middle-earth
Disclaimer: Tolkien’s world... Kortirion just slewed the focus a bit.
Notes: Apologies, not new, but dusted off from Oct ’04 – I don’t think it’s been here; I think it was only posted on lotr100... but having found it, I liked it and polished it a touch to fit.

Prince Aragorn swayed beneath the unaccustomed weight of his golden chains of office, clasped firmly into place by his boon-companion Boromir. He gripped Aragon’s wrists encouragingly with a smile.

Arathorn and Gilraen watched proudly, their mithril chains tinkling gently. His mother smoothed his hair.

“Remember, bow low. Do not look at him. Do not speak unless given permission.”

Aragorn nodded nervously. Arathorn preceded him. Now come of age, it was ancient tradition he be formally presented to the Great Lord.

The golden manacles at his wrists chimed delicately as he made obeisance before Lord Elrond - Ruler of the One Ring.
