Character: Master Elrond
Disclaimer: Tolkien’s broad imaginings... Kortirion’s narrow focus.
Taking in a foundling would seem an act of charity to many. But I confess a further motive; he may yet be the leader I have looked for in each generation of men... and besides... I was a fatherless foundling myself once.
So long ago... yet the image remains as clear as spring-water. My brother and I hid from foul carnage we didn’t understand - that our kindred should attack us... Then he came, dazzlingly bright, enfired with battle-fever, stained with innocent’s gore... he stayed his brother’s hand. My life I owe to Makalaure’s charity – how can I do less?
