Aragorn trudged up the long slope. He hoped the ever-rising ground that did not look difficult, but proved a strain on legs and back would soon ease. Finally, the path levelled, dipping away behind dark pine, and beyond... a glimpse of... gold?
He paused in wonder; what seemed a pool of molten gold encircled a glade of slender, silver trunks, still naked of leaves... nine trees rooted among many, many golden flowers... a near perfect circle.
He shuddered involuntarily. Shaking off a brief prescience, he shrugged, smiled... Gandalf would laugh when he mentioned a simple golden circle had unnerved him.
