Characters: Pippin and Merry
Source: In Rivendell… sort of!
Disclaimer: Tolkien would recognise ‘The Hero’s Journey’, but perhaps not this bit.
“Don’t do that Merry, I don’t like it!”
With a hefty push, Pip sent his cousin slithering off the path by the river. If Merry had had a broader grin... his face might have split in half!
Sam tossed his head, ‘Twasn’t something to joke about...!’
It had started the previous evening; Merry borrowed the Ranger’s cloak and put their cauldron on his head; breathing heavily, he’d pretended to be another barrow-wraith risen from the tomb to tease Pippin – a black helmeted shadow looming out of the rushes in Rivendell’s garden.
“Tooo-to-to-tomb, to-to-tomb, to-to-tomb-tomb...” Merry sang gleefully.
Pippin hit him.
