Character: Captain Thorongil

Full-faced Ithil rode translucent cloud-skeins, silvered bright against the sable of jewelled midnight. With the wind at their backs, the small fleet, each a fire-fly of lanterns fore and aft, swayed southwards within sight of each other.
Captain Thorongil stood alone, feet planted wide, his body attuned to the subtle plunge as prow parted ocean. The sailor at the helm watched approvingly ‘the man was a natural’; he smiled:
“Will you take her, Captain?”
The rayed-star on his cloak caught the moonlight.
Under Thorongil’s hand, the vessel quivered like a mighty war-horse, but she gentled at his touch.
