Meduseld’s fires warmed the hall and... perhaps too much humanity! Pungent wood-smoke, warmed leather, hot flesh and strong ale... a miasma Legolas sought respite from; not that he found it repellent, as some of his kind might... but the night air’s freshness welcomed him.
A shadow slipped after him, unacknowledged but not unnoticed; Legolas walked towards the Barrowfield. Glinting under the stars, banks of uilos swathed the mounds, Legolas smiled.
Éowyn stood forth.
“I... We... call them Simbelmynë...” she murmured.
“Eternally flowering... reminding us of the bright eyes now sleeping.”
Éowyn looked into his shining eyes... and understood.
