The ship slipped slowly down the Anduin. An elderly dwarf sat at the bow; an unlikely passenger amongst the company of elves.
Further back the elf looked out over the ship’s rail; arm around his wife, hand resting on her swollen belly.
“If we had travelled overland to the Havens,” he said, “we would have passed through the land of Rohan. There I would have given you my name for the babe.”
She waited, knowing that, had she carried a son, his name would have been Aragorn, or Estel, for the ever-lost friend.
“Simbelmynë”, he said, “to remember them all.”
