The greenwood, while enchanting after winter’s leafless barren land, still made Estel dubious about finding his supper.
“Look closer...” said Master Elrond. “Although lembas sustains the hröa we still need food for the fea when we travel. Here... Men call this ‘Bread-and-Cheese’ Tree...”
He picked some young shoots for Estel, who marvelled at the sweet, nutty taste.
“That is melde... this Red Legs... chop them raw or stew them... You must also learn mannish names, should you ask in Eldarin they won’t know.”
Elrond showed him Green-sauce, Pigweed, Mallace...
“Look closer...” said Elessar to Eldarion, “These woods are not barren...”
