The curvature of the delicate head fits into the palm of his hand. He has had a strenuous journey into the world...a little early.
Aragorn eases his son’s hand out of the ancient elven swaddling blanket. A fern frond - curled in on itself; wrists like willow stems.
He is such an exquisite thing...fashioned out of long strands of memory and time, condensed into a willow weave of blood and tissue; of him – and yet not.
Aragorn uncurls the hand gently and runs his thumb down it to the fingernails. “Like the inside of shells,” he thinks..."on a white shore.”
