On The Banks Of The Bruinen
Elladan followed the rushing waters of the Bruinen as the river flowed south-west towards the Mitheithel. The banks were thickly wooded with oak, ash and elm, the leaves glowing in a blaze of scarlet glory tinged with gold. Acorns littered the ground and a squirrel chattered shrilly from the sanctuary of a high branch.
The note of the river changed suddenly, rising to a muttering roar before subsiding once more. Elladan dismounted and waded into the shallows, dipping his hands into the water. Wavelets foamed about his boots as far to the north Elrond laid his command upon the river.
