Characters: Pippin and Merry
Disclaimer: Tolkien’s world of Middle-earth and all its denizens are his.
Notes: Late for the ‘Pine’ challenge, and also by request, a continuation of the ideas in ‘Of the Forest’. The only one left is Gandalf… and I think he’s Yew... but I did wonder about Monkey Puzzle Tree ‘…rare, strange, evergreen, and ...Because of the species' great age it is sometimes described as a living fossil.’ ;p
“What am I?” Said Pip.
“Poplar, always fidgeting about, shakin’ your leaves over nothing”.
Merry ducked a thrown pine-cone, “Sam’s Hazel, useful withies and generous with his cobs!”
Pip giggled, “You can’t say that!”
"Apple then, sheltering, bountiful... and every home should have one! But Frodo..."
Merry picked up the pine-cone, “Frodo stands apart... like those strong, solitary northern pines you see on hilltops, you don’t know how they got there, only how beautiful and fragile they seem ‘gainst the sky..."
"And you’re Blackthorn. Only any good when soaked in alcohol!" crowed Pip... before they fell a-tussling.
