"Feeling One's Age"

Children. The members of this Fellowship were all as young as children; except Mithrandir, of course. Legolas was young, for an elf, and yet all his new companions had seen so few years.

The hobbits, and Boromir, had been born since he celebrated his last full yén; Gimli and Aragorn not long before.

An elfling born in the same year as Frodo would just have celebrated his coming of age; drunk his first wine, had his first kiss… and his first warrior training.

How amazing, Legolas thought, were these mortal companions, to cope with so much with so little experience…
