I thought, as this set draws to a close, you might like to know a little more about Eldarion's governess.
Firiel’s father died at Osgiliath fighting beside Lord Faramir. Only a year ago her mother had followed him; old before her time, too weary to fight the fever. Firiel had clung then, tearfully, to her uniformed brother in the rain-soaked burial ground; her prospects bleak.
But Lord Faramir had not forgotten his lieutenant’s family – and Firiel would always be grateful, especially today.
“… and so the King and I just want you to know how pleased we are with you as Eldarion’s governess,” Queen Arwen finished.
Outside, the spring sun shone. It symbolised, Firiel was sure, her own bright future.
