Summary: Whilst making a less-than-perfect first contact on his own people, Aragorn is surprised to see a face from his childhood.
He seems to have a knack for getting himself into these messes.
"A thief, you say?"
Wait, that voice...!
"Caught him prowling the forest. Thief or spy, I warrant."
"Did he steal?" A stranger?
"I am no thief," Aragorn interrupted, raising his head.
It was him. Wise blue eyes regarded him from a familiar bearded face.
Gandalf! Why was Ada's friend with the Dunadain?
Gandalf's eyes smiled. "I believe you will find him truthful, Halbarad. Trust me." He winked at Aragorn.
Through long years, Aragorn would learn to trust Gandalf completely. But some truths were instinctive.
From the first, he trusted that wink, and the gentle, wise eyes that twinkled behind it.
