The Anduin glittered silver, her waters bejeweled with the splendor of the heavens. She danced, exalting her beauty.
But he could not see it.
The stars‘ brilliance gilded all life; no cloud obscured them.
But no more. A shadow had enveloped him, one no light would pierce, not even the coming dawn.
There could be no dawn.
For an age, Faramir stared at the moon’s shattered reflection, the only witness to his last glimpse of Boromir. Such fractured pieces, he knew, would never be whole again.
Anborn found him there on the riverbank, shivering, watching shards of moonlight flow away.
