Many tall shadows defined by pale sunlight fell away from their feet, on cold dewed grass or paved court, cobbled path or wooden deck... All standing had a forbearer who’d likewise laid themselves down to bring Light back to Arda.
Eldarion raised his father’s sword, leading the salute. Before him, the renewed dome of Osgiliath, luminous against rose and apricot skies, beyond, graceful banners unfurled from Minas Tirith’s towers, and silver trumpets called them home.
