She glared at the closed and locked gate as if she could make it swing open and let her in. Getting the owners of this particular smial to tell her what was going on was about as likely as seeing a snowstorm in the middle of summer, but that didn't stop her from wanting to know. If she could get the drop on everyone else in the neighborhood regarding what the ridiculous Baggins's were up to now, she would probably get a more avid audience than anyone else at any tea or sewing circle anywhere else in the Shire.
"No admittance except on party business," the sign said.
Even if she tried to pretend that she had party business or used her kinship to gain entry into this smial, she would not be allowed inside.
Well, she told herself, she would have to make something up, then. She could do that. If Billbo Baggins wanted to be so secretive, no one would be able to dispute her stories, so it wouldn't be too risky. Smiling, she headed back down the path with a small shrug. Tomorrow's sewing circle wouldn't be so bad after all.
