“I’ve one gathering dust somewhere.”
“A dragon-rider?” Gríma tried jesting.
Saruman, oblivious to the winds visiting the rooftop, spared him a glance. “A paper lantern you might present to Théoden for that Yule thing. Intimate something impressive and respectable about trade connections.”
“You don’t wish to keep such a lantern?”
Isengard was colorless under winter’s stars, bare trees like iron sculptures puncturing the snow. The wizard seemed, briefly, aware of the cold. “No.”
