“Firiel…” said Eldarion in a puzzled voice, “do you think there are too may words in the world – or not enough?”
‘Sometimes’, Firiel thought, ‘it pays to play them at their own game.’
“Why?” she asked out loud.
“Well, when I have to learn how to spell them, there seem to be far too many of them.”
“But then today, Naneth told me not to bolt my food…”
“I should think not!” Firiel said.
“But which ‘bolt’ did she mean? It was hard enough when Uncle Faramir said not to bolt the stable after the horse had bolted…”
