"It's Not What You Say, It's The Way That You Say It...."

In the exhilarating fear of the charge Éowyn had screamed defiance as loudly as every other rider. In the noise and confusion of the battle she had continued to do so until her lungs were empty.

When she awoke, unwillingly, in the Houses of Healing, her throat hurt as much as every other injury; her voice a rasp, a painful whisper.

She had not known whether to laugh or cry when, months later, Faramir told her that he had been drawn by her air of sorrowful vulnerability – but had known he loved her when he heard her low, husky, voice…
