Ailments challenge, Headache - An Unexpected Party

As ever, hideously late, but have finally got started on this challenge. It's going to be a series about the unsung heroines of Middle-earth, inspired by Alan Bennett's quote from The History Boys: "History is women following behind with the bucket."  Now to gallop to catch up...

An Unexpected Party
(Edoras, June 13 3019)

“'Tis all very well,” Gytha grumbles, thumping the basket of last year's dried apples down on the table, “but with the flocks driven hither-and-yon by all the raids out of Dunland –”

“ – half the Westfold crop burned to the ground by those black hordes from Isengard,” Branwyn adds –

“– what in Béma's name are we to feed them all? Mighty Elven-lords and ladies they may be – for all they come from the Golden Wood!” Gytha gives the little finger-flick that wards off the Evil Eye, “– but for those who have to put feast on table, they're nothing but a headache!”

June 14 3019: "The sons of Elrond meet the escort and bring Arwen to Edoras" (LoTR Appendix B)
